A convict in the Bilkis Bano gangrape case has questioned the locus standi of the petitioners who have challenged in the Supreme Court the remission given to him and 10 other convicts in the case, saying they are “complete strangers” in the matter.
In his counter-affidavit, Radhey Shyam, who was recently released by the Gujarat government on remission, said that none of the petitioners are related to the case and are either political activists or “third party stranger”.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday said if people of Gujarat bring the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to power, then every child in the state will prosper.

Massive protests erupted outside a mortuary in Uttarakhand’s Srinagar city on Sunday where the body of the 19-year-old receptionist was kept as the father of the teen arrived to take her body for the last rites. Odisha’s COVID-19 tally rose to 13,33,168 on Sunday as 211 more people, including 26 children, tested positive for the infection, a health bulletin said.
The state had recorded 222 infections on Saturday. The death toll rose to 9,190 as two more patients succumbed to the coronavirus infection, the bulletin said.
After days of squabble between the Raj Bhavan and the AAP government over holding an assembly session, Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit Sunday gave his nod to convene the House on September 27.
The governor’s approval came a day after the AAP government informed him about the issues to be taken up during the session. Earlier, the governor had withdrawn the permission to hold a special session on September 22 when the AAP government wanted to bring a confidence motion.According to an order issued of the governor on Sunday, he has now summoned a daylong session at 11 am on Tuesday.
