2022 Outbreak Cases and Data | Mpox | Poxvirus – CDC

CDC is updating webpages with the term “mpox” to reduce stigma and other issues associated with prior terminology. This change is aligned with the recent World Health Organization decision.
Due to the federal holiday, CDC’s mpox data for this page will not be updated the week of December 26, 2022. Updates will resume on January 5, 2023, on their regular schedule.
Beginning Monday, December 5, 2022, the data below will be updated once per week on Wednesdays.
At this time, data suggest that gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men make up the majority of cases in the current mpox outbreak. However, anyone, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, who has been in close, personal contact with someone who has mpox is at risk. Take steps to prevent getting mpox. If you have any symptoms of mpox, talk to a healthcare provider.
These reports provide timely updates regarding CDC’s ongoing response to the mpox outbreak.
