The IndyCar Holiday Hot-Lap Challenge starts on Monday, 28th November on the rFactor 2 Competition System at Indianapolis.
Coming soon to rFactor 2‘s Competition System, the IndyCar Holiday Hot-Lap Challenge will aim to find out who the fastest community member is in the INDYCAR Dallara IR18.
Starting on 28th November and in conjunction with the NTT IndyCar Series, rFactor 2 members can jump in and lay down their fastest laps for prizes among three different venues on the service.
There are three events for three weeks at three different tracks and the premise is that members will be going into time trials to set the fastest lap possible. The Dallara IR-18 IndyCar is required to own to participate in the challenge.
From 28th November until 18th December, the three-week period will be split into three events at three tracks. The first up is the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course, a free piece of content built into the game. That contest will run from 28th November to 4th December.
Starting on 5th December, the series switches over to World Wide Technology Raceway to run the oval. This is paid content and will need to be purchased to run. Running around in circles will last until 11th December.
The final event goes to WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, another piece of content that you’ll need to own to compete. If you ran the Race of the Season from a few months ago, you’ll already be set. This contest runs from 12th December to 18th December.
Each week will be its own event with its own separate winner. Sessions will be set up as private qualifiers and will last for an hour and 45 minutes, with 15 minutes to enter the server once registered and 10 minutes of set practice.
This is a FIXED setup challenge, meaning all drivers will compete using the same setup with only a few options able to be changed. It won’t be about who can build the fastest setup, but rather who can drive the provided settings the quickest.
Drivers may adjust their steering lock, brake pressure, starting fuel, fuel strategy, brake bias, and can turn on the racing line upon discretion. All other driving assists are not allowed, and the track limits are set to strict.
Besides the title of the quickest IndyCar driver on rFactor 2, there will be prizes to the fastest drivers based in the United States. The prize is titled an IndyCar Prize Package and one will go to each of the fastest drivers in each event.
Even if you aren’t the fastest driver, a prize will still be available to a random competitor throughout the contest. After everything is said and over with, one lucky competitor will be picked at random to also receive an IndyCar Prize Package.
All that needs to be done to register for the IndyCar Holiday Hot-Lap Challenge is to load up the rFactor 2 Competition System and register for a session. Entry is free and anyone with a copy of rFactor 2 can compete.
Per the official rules, “competitors must register or be registered to the in-game Competition System with their full name and email address” and failure to do so may result in disqualification. Good luck to all that enter! The full set of rules can be found in the announcement from Studio 397.
