No scope to bring back caretaker govt: law minister – The Daily Star

Law Minister Anisul Huq yesterday ruled out the possibility of restoring the caretaker government system in the country.
“The Supreme Court has declared the caretaker government system illegal and unconstitutional, and accordingly, the Constitution has been amended. Therefore, there is no scope for reintroducing the caretaker government system in the country,” he said.
He was talking to journalists after attending a meeting on the occasion of inaugurating a training course for the subordinate court judges at Judicial Administration Training Institute in Dhaka.
The law minister said the next national elections will be held under the Constitution’s guidelines. The government departments will provide all assistance to the Election Commission during the election period.
Replying to a question, he said, “Please, do not pay any heed to the rumours about the next president.”
