Youngsters are being given the opportunity to get to grips with modern technology – including state of the art gaming equipment – at a new ‘Digital Den’.
The den has opened at The Holbeach Hub, Tonic Health’s new youth and community spot.
The aim is to create a fun, safe space for local people to visit and enjoy access to state-of-the-art tech equipment using Gigabit internet speeds.
The equipment and furnishings have been donated by LightSpeed Broadband and include the latest televisons and Virtual Reality headsets, gaming consoles, laptops, cameras and green screens.
LightSpeed is also providing the Hub with free access to its full fibre internet service so that residents can experience the ultra-fast service.
Kyle Summers, Social Media Manager at Tonic Health is delighted with the new digital den.
He said: “We aim to improve both the physical and mental health and wellbeing of south Lincolnshire’s communities through bringing people together, collaborative work and partnerships in shared spaces.
“Thanks to LightSpeed’s generosity, we are thrilled to be opening this Digital Den in Holbeach.
“With some of the latest and greatest technology it will be fantastic for children and teenagers to have access to the equipment, meet their friends, play and learn how to use technology from an early age, preparing them for the digital world we live in.”
The Holbeach Hub opened in June and has created a community hub for health and wellbeing for residents in the town.
As part of its development, Tonic Health is starting a youth programme to reduce anti-social behaviour in the area.
It runs Youth Clubs on Tuesday afternoons from 4-6pm for 5-11-year-olds and Friday evenings 6-8 pm for 11-17-year-olds, along with a craft room, tuck shop, walking cricket and football.
More than 2,800 properties in Holbeach can connect to Spalding-based LightSpeed’s broadband network. Visit www.lightspeed.co.uk to see if you can access it.
